Mercedes Church of the Nazarene Core Beliefs

God & His Word - We are a Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. We believe in one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—and that the Bible is God’s inspired Word and the foundation for our faith and life.

Jesus - We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human, who died for our sins, rose from the dead, and offers salvation to everyone who turns to Him in repentance and faith.

Salvation - We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. Through the Holy Spirit, God forgives us, gives us new life, and calls us to entire sanctification—a life fully surrendered to God and growing in Christlike love and holiness.

The Church - We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, make disciples, love and serve others, and share the hope of the gospel with the world. We summarize this call as "Uniting People with Christ".

The Second Coming - We believe Jesus Christ will come again, the dead will be raised, and all people will stand before God. Our hope is eternal life with Christ and the restoration of all things.

In everything, we seek to love God wholeheartedly, love our neighbors, and live as faithful followers of Jesus Christ. Our Mission in each moment is to unite people with Christ.
